Borja García, "El Águila", flies high and destroys the words of "Danger"
WAR triumphs in Madrid and crowns Borja García as its first flyweight champion who takes the belt for CD Tibet.
Madrid's Caja Mágica was the epicentre of mixed martial arts in Spain on Saturday as WAR held its fourth event and brought together over 8,000 people , including a fair number of celebrities. With above-average purses, special bonuses and the thrilling conclusion of its own The Ultimate Fighter- inspired reality show, the organisation left a great taste in the mouths of fans.
The evening, which featured fourteen fights (eight professional and six amateur), was a spectacle full of emotions, although if there was one moment that shone above the rest, it was the fight that proclaimed the first WAR champion.
Borja García, "El Águila", flies high and destroys the words of "Danger"
In one of the fights of the night, Borja Garcia , known as "El Águila" (CD Tibet) , made history by winning the flyweight belt after defeating Ahmed El Idrissi (Climent club) , nicknamed "Peligro" in a resounding unanimous decision . This duel not only had the title at stake, but also a rivalry fueled by the WAR reality show , where both had proven their worth by winning their respective fights.
El Idrissi started the fight aggressively and seemed to have the upper hand after landing hard blows in the first minutes. However, Garcia showed resilience and composure worthy of a champion. With a precise strategy and combining impeccable striking with solid control on the canvas, "El Águila" dominated the second and third rounds without mercy , leaving his rival without arguments and crumbling the previous statements of "Peligro", who had promised to finish him quickly. While the magic box was coming to life with the public chanting the name "Borja, Borja" the eagle took flight and completely suppressed danger, leaving him with no option.
“Everything he said before the fight was for nothing. Today I spoke with my fists and my work,” said Borja García at the end of the fight, with the champion's belt on his waist and the support of a crowd that never stopped applauding him.
WAR, a booming show
The success of this event was not limited to the main event. WAR established itself as one of the most promising promoters on the European scene thanks to its ability to combine high-level fights, entertainment and risky bets, such as the inclusion of its reality show.
The night ended with a promise from the organization: to return soon with more events that continue to raise the level of MMA in Spain . Meanwhile, Borja García enjoys his well-deserved place at the top, making it clear that at flyweight, "El Águila" has no rival.
